Setting up Controls

ms0115 ยท 2020-06-09 12:14

CAT 329 E CAT0329ETPKW00668 Can anyone help me with setting up the controls on this machine? I can get into the monitor and select the tool, but I can not make it activate the thumb with the switches on the joystick. It will power up the 2 smaller lines, but not the larger feed lines. The small lines are too slow for the function. So I need assistance switching the controls over to the larger feed lines. I will be at the machine in the next few hours any assistance would be appreciated.

Typically, the first 4 tools are programmed (from the factory) and have the high flow lines on the right thumbwheel . Tool 1 is generally 1 way flow, right thumbwheel only. Typically, it'll have an H130 or similar name. Can you list the names of the work tool setting already in there, like H120, CVP80, etc...?

I will post that up in a little while. Heading to the machine.

I find it strange starting a new thread for exactly the same problem that you'd already asked for help in another one .... and still hadn't supplied all the requested information. HeavyEquipmentForums

For clarity... All of my Cats came with basic generic tool programs in at least the 1st four positions. Not only is it easier to modify an existing work tool program, some tool programs that are currently programmed for 1way flow will allow electronic switching to 2way, BUT, for some dumb reason, they'll still remain 1 way programs. Ideally, were looking for grapple, shear, thumb, or grading bucket.

This isn't going to be simple, since A) you'll have go in to service menu and look at each program, seeking on that already has 2way flow enabled, and 2) pick which of those to reprogram for your thumb. When you power up the machine, you'll need to select the service mode. You'll be asked to enter a password. 9992 is the password. Once inside, search the menu structure for "tool program". From the default list, you can see that tools 3,4,&5 are default 2way.

Not all parameters need changed, but the ones that do are important.

The above is from my D series excavators. The book for yours is a KENR9698, and it walk you thru the programming. Somewhere in the E series, there is a "tool 25" available, that should preset most of the parameters for you. The D series didn't have a preset for it. Can you request that KENR9698 from your dealer? Shouldn't be outrageously expensive.
