Well there are advantages to traffic and taking a backroad! I came across the old backhoe and snapped a few pictures. The hayseed in me thought the tractor was a Ford 8N and that the backhoe was homemade. But after some looking it turns out to be a Sherman Power Digger. Does anybody know any history on these units? Well enjoy the pictures either way!:canada
That's a nice find!. I have seen one across town painted up on a small homestead inside a pasture under a pole barn. Nice pic!.
Man, could you imagine digging several hundred feet of water trench with THAT?? Forget about a 1000 or more? Sure is cool though. Should find it's way to Rollag for the steam threshers.
My dad had one like that, still sits behind the home place.
You would thank God for that machine when it was new. They were slow but did the job, sure beat a "P&H" that's a Pine Handel with an Ass Crowd.
No outriggers & a big bucket that had to be a jerky b*****d. Wain Roy made'em til Ford started building there own hoes
Youtube has a video called Task force on wheels .Oliver promotional video with the hydro trencher same style of hoe
I bet it beat the heck out of a pick & shovel though!
