Shopping for an air compressor–Advice needed

we have two mechanics working in our shop and we need to get them an air compressor. we have two big stalls and can fit a truck, a pickup, and a compact piece of equipment in at one time. kind of like three stalls. we work on trucks, excavators, engines, pickups, heavy equipment, and tires. can someone help me with the capacities, brands, and models of compressor i should consider? thanks.

ROLAIR builds a heck of a unit. Made in USA, Hustifsford, Wi. Just bought one for my new shop. THis one has 80 gallon tank, two stage compressor and 7.5 HP motor. Not a real large unit, but it sure gets the job done for me. For the usual impact wrenches, tire work if you do it, some sandblasting, painting it is jiust great.

We have also been shopping for a new air compressor. We have it down to ether a Quincy or a Champion both are made in USA. W

we bought a curtis 10HT12-VT. five years ago my father in law did a lot of research on air compressors and this is the same one he bought then. he has been happy with it so i decided this was the way our company would go. he is able to run a one inch gun and use a small sand blaster. ours is a 10 hp, 230 volt, three phase model. we haven't wired it up yet so i can't speak to how it is working for us yet.

I assume you already have three phase power at your shop?

yep. just waiting for one of our journeymen to run the extra wire (if the conduit is big enough) or add a new conduit and wire from the main panel.

Maybe i could talk him into using the conduit as a ground wire!
