Hey guys, have a little issue and hoping i can get some feedback from you fine gentlemen. I got a skytrak 10054. recently did a full boom hose job . including the nylatrac. Suddenly, while the machine is being used with no load, i have had 2 HOSES pop inside the boom. (the long hoses). There are no signs of any biting. they just randomly pop on me. Luckily it has 4 hoses, and i have been using the auxilary hoses as backup to avoid taking apart the boom in order to replace the hose. Any ideas what would cause the hoses to just pop? the hoses are 3/8" 3250psi . OEM hoses, as per the part number for this machine. any help woudl be apprciated!
A pic of the busted hose area would be helpful.
hard to get a pic. its in the middle area inside the boom. But from what we can tell there is nothing being crushed or bitten. Maybe i got bad hoses
Did they burst or get caught up and tear ?? Did you dissemble the boom or try to pull hoses through with kite strings ?? Also did you have the hoses made or did you get factory hoses ? Did you use the syn- flex hose or is it normal hydraulic hose ? Also as vetch said where exactly did the damage happen. In the cat track ? Or under a boom section ? 10k skytrk boom hoses are a pita. I changed the way I do them a long time ago. I cut the fitting off the tilt and Aux side then pull them through with kite strings one section at a time. Then crimp fittings back on afterwards. Makes it simpler for me that way and less likely to get hoses overlapping or out of place. Plus I can rehose the machine in about 2 hrs by myself in the field doing it this way.
Sounds like a bad rebuild. We replace everything in boom when we pull those apart to replace hoses so everything is new. If it's not put together right it will fail very quick
