I have an f450 -- 01 ford needing gear selector overhauled, just looked at the parts kit and am wondering if the steering wheel has to come off to replace all the pieces ?
On most of the Fords there are 2 plastic bushings that go on the shift rod. Those bushings are what need to be replaced. They are $6/pr or so. One does not need to remove the steering wheel, only the upper and lower trim on the steering column.
