Mostlyred that is a Letourneau D4 Tournapull and model Q carry all, they where designed for military use. Looks like they would fit in a langing craft, or a transport plane. Check out the book The Letourneau Archive by Philip Gowenlock, R G Letourneau was amazing. I wouldnt let this little beuaty out of sight, if you collect old machinery.

Nice pictures!!! It's an airborne machine designed to be carried in C-47 transport planes of WW2.

Showpony is correct. This is a LeTourneau Model D4 Tournapull with a Model Q Carryall. They were designed to be transported by air in the C-47 cargo plane or WACO CG-4A Glider. They were given the nick name The Flying Tournapull because they were built specificly for air transport. They were built from 1944 thru 1946. Your appears to be complete except maybe for the Rooter Tooth that would have been attached to the rear crossmember. I am with the R.G. LeTourneau Heritage Center and if you will provide the D4 serial number to me I can tell you a lot more details about your unit. Contact me at [email protected]

Beautiful machine! But be very careful if you operate it. It has clutch-brake steering like a crawler machine and will jackknife in a heartbeat!

I've seen several of these around the country, but never one in working condition.
