sliperytimberja. Greetings. As for the first video. You will find HDX on the Hayes truck site. This fellow took delivery of that unit as a brand new truck, red and white in color belonging to M&B. The truck has changed owners 2 or 3times. The same driver is still on the same unit. H-17. He painted "Angels Playmate"on the hood skirts. Color is now yellow, white, and green. As for the 2nd video,I have no knowledge but others may know. As we in Canada are 8hrs behind you fellows, someone may come on site with further onfo. Happy New Year

The twin power logging truck in NZ was a pacific P500 with a second engine in the belly of its semi trailer, it also towed 2 or 3 more ordinary trailers. Was built and owned by Nolan and lance magee. It had twin 3406s and Allison transmissions. Was a few magazine articles about it at the time, but have never seen a video of it. They only used it for a few years, and it was sold at NZs one and only Ritchie brothers auction in 1997.

sliperytimberja Welcome to the site. The two VHS films you are talking about are called "Angel's Playmate" a one hour documentary of the last production run Hayes (HDX) built. And The other one was called "Trucking Kiwi Style" The story of Lance Magee and his "TWIN POWER Pacific. The two people that made this a well as a host of other truck films was Martin Phippard and Peter Connock from the United Kingdom. These two guys spent every spare moment and dime they had scouring the world and filming trucks of every model and description. All over the US and Australia New Zealand Europe, Israel'sNegev Desert, Spain, Tasmania The UK and Canada. Martin had lived and worked in Canada for a long time before returning home to England. His job was heavily involved with the heavy truck industry in the UK. He and Peter would host "TRUCK TOURS and take friends all over the world with them to share their love of the trucks. There was a few other guys also that were just as truck loving as them and another was a good friend also Richard Tew. They had many adventures all over and wherever they went they left a lasting friendships. However, Martin passed away a short time ago in the UK leaving his wife Annie and their family as well as his best friend's Peter and Richard to mourn his loss. Richard made his way over to Port Alberni this last summer and we spent some time just BSin and sharing stories. The Trucking World lost a major supporter with Martins passing and we can only hope Peter and other guys like Richard will carry on filming these world trucks. The VHS films were available from Old Pond originally. As time went on they formed a film company called CP Productions and under this new partnership they produced and released several more films from around the globe. They returned to Port Alberni one last time in 2011. and filmed the 17 one last time. There is two DVD's came out of this trip called "Looking at Logging" pt one and the second was Looking at Logging pt two. If you are really interested you could probably get hold of these as well as maybe back copies of the older films like "Seeing Double" this film was done by Peter and Richard in Spain when they went over for another adventure in truck filming and filmed a couple day's move with the 2 Huge WHDX Hayes's of Arbigui as they hauled a big load that used both trucks on the specialized low bed. You might get a list of their films that are still available through Old Pond, There is quite a number of them. I will give you a couple names. Just make sure when you order these films that you specify what format you would like because they come in the UK format. Thus when I got some they were un-viewable till I had them transferred over to our format. Here they are www.oldpond.com-- or-- Old Pond Publishing Dencora Business Centre 36 White House Road Ipswich IP1 5ZZ and www.nynehead-books.co.uk Tel. +44(0)1823-461997 When contacting these people tell them you are interested in any or all films made by CP Productions or the earlier Martin Phippard ones as well as any of their earlier films still available. Good Luck You will not be disappointed with any of them!
