Split the deere!

fast_st ยท 2016-10-31 18:06

so the lower pivot pin is fubar! has nearly an inch of fore/aft play between the loader frame and the pivot. The pin itself through the engine frame looks pretty tight overall. The upper pin seems to have no visible play at all. I'm guessing it'll take about two hours work to split the machine with four or five hours of screwing around and getting things just right. We'll be working with the engine frame supported on three piers to make for easy adjustments if needed. The loader frame will have the bucket attached, chained and secured so it can't drift and will be on a couple 2x10 planks to let it slide fore/aft and we should be able to move it with the Kubota as long as everything is neutral. usadrivemotors on ebay sells a 60 piece o-ring flat face plug/cap kit that'll be handy for buttoning up all the hydraulics, less than a buck each. Driveshaft should be easy as well, and while its apart, get one steering piston a nice new chrome shaft and pull the pilot pump for a look see. Will also yank out the accumulators and see how they look inside. Can a regular hydraulic shop recharge them? If it becomes impossible to get it back together, we can have the rental compay drop off a big volvo excavator. Any tips and pointers? Gotchas? Life ending experiences?

hi ,I usually block the front frame and use a loader or fork and roll rear frame out. seems to work better for me.just my 2 cents worth mark

I don't think the job will take too long, I'm pondering doing a time lapse with a gopro just for giggles.

Managed to get it all split in 4 hours, took almost as long to prep the work area and get the blocks in place. Lots of buckets and such to catch all the dribbles, flat faced o-ring fitting plug and cap kit saved a lot of mess! had to cut a 2 3/4 hex wrench out of steel plate for the top center pin, hydraulic jack coaxed it right up and out. Six minute time lapse video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF3BhhsPWt0 ] Picture of the lower center pin, 3/8 deep groove and the lower bearing was toast. Engine frame side needs to be bored Success!!

Can't have too much supervision right? Now I get to sneak down there with my spray gun and paint the inside of the front loader frame
