Straight Frame Cat 944 A loader

Hi Any one up on Cat Loaders (older)? Cat 944 A straight frame loader, it has sat for 20 years got it running. Not much for brakes, or steering. Engine sounds good.

    They weren't much on steering and brakes when they were new

    Thanks for your reply, do you know if there is much difference between the 43 A and the 87 J serial number?

    I'm sure there are some differences Cat didn't usually change serial numbers unless there was a major change ie a different engine, transmission It could have been built at a different plant also

    all I can tell you is 43a was built in us starting in 1959 87j was built in us starting in 1968

    This is all the Yellow Book contains. The 43A was 88" wheelbase up to S/N 3011. It appears as though the 87J replaced the 43A in 1968 and there weren't many of them built.
