One of my neighbors stuck his 200 series Komatsu excavator yesterday. They were going to take another excavator out today along with a DX 65 and a D5 to see if they can get it out. The tracks are perpendicular to the house but the engine will not run due to no oil pressure. They are going to try overfilling the crankcase at the dealers suggestion and drain some back out as it levels up. It has snowed 10" since this picture was taken Monday afternoon. I'll let you know what happened today when I get the local coffee shop report in the morning.
He was working in a peat bog cleaning up where there was a underground peat fire burning a couple months back. They dug holes and threw the smoldering peat in to soak in the water and go out. He fell in one of the holes and in our peat bogs there is usually no bottom when wet.
They brought in a 312 Cat yesterday with swamp tracks on it. They were able to dig out under the front of the tracks and then pull it enough for it to level up. They then were able to start it up and with the machine assisting they pulled it out with the crawler and the 312. Its in the shop now thawing out. I asked him about pictures. He said others took some but he had none.
I know pictures don't do justice to the real angle, but that does not look to be steep enough to loose oil pressure. Glad to hear they got it out.
Good thing there was an 'escape hatch' on the top of the cab!
