How come inside the tracks are painted black on Cat excavators & skid steers yet on crawlers & dozers they paint them yellow? What's up with this - are they running low on yellow paint?
Maybe the tracks are installed on crawlers and dozers before the machine is painted, and they paint excavators and skid steers before installing the tracks:idea
Color Schemes Hi Idleup, It has to do with "Tradition " . Before your time , ??? , not getting into deep industrial painting history here. I'd say it has more to do with the evolution of industrial painting. The old cable shovels and hoes were painted black. Except for maybe the upper house . That was because crater grease was used for lube. Black grease. Ultimately became smeared everywhere, by daily useage. So why try and keep a distinct contrast ?? Of cleanliness ? Maybe black was the cheapest paint back them days !! All the manufacturer's have the excavator and crane undercarriage painted black . Following the past history or tradition. To see 2 tone and 3 tone color schemes on equipment is ??? startling ? shocking ? to us old timers? LOL Hey good question ? :drinkup
Hey thanks for the info - I'm repainting my D5G and I went ahead and painted the lower end black it looks pretty goo actually. Thanks
How else would the assembly workers avoid mixing them up?
