Ok 2 things ...1st item is the quick connect hose came off on backoe and for the life of me i cant pull sleeve back to reconnect, whats the trick, i shut tractor off and released pressure from lines by moving sticks thinking that would do it but nothing and to make matters worse it now wont go in to forward gear???? It will go into reverse but not forward..tryed 1st and 2nd gear as well backhoe is now sitting in the bush and i need to get it moved ASAP thanks fellas

What color and model is it? What function does the hose serve? If its an auxiliary line the sticks will do nothing to relieve pressure. You may have to take couplers off to get rid of pressure. This can be dangerous though. Extreme care should be taken to protect against the pressurized oil coming into contact with any part of the person removing the coupler ends.

Its 96 super L series ll, the hose connects to backhoe bucket and its the feed to pivot the bucket inwards or to pickup any idea as why the forward gear wont engage either? Thx

Not completely familiar with one of that vintage but spent years on a '90 780C. First thing I would check is the linkage that connects the shuttle lever to the transmission. If it goes in reverse but not forward if the linkage is fine it could really only be internal.

The Super L has only wires, relays, solenoids to activare F&R functions. The solenoids are on top of the shuttle unit, you did not say if it is a powershift or standard. You must see if there is voltage getting to the forward solenoid, it could be the F&R switch, the forward relay,or various other components a service manual that has the troubleshooting step by step would be a great help.

Thanks for that melben. Hopefully he comes back to find out what you wrote.

Ok update..had someone test electronics last nite, we seem to be getting power from shuttle to relays and relay to top of solenoid but it seems like solenoid maybe not releasing ...is it a magnet inside?

Just a shot in the dark . On my Kubota if the hydraulic quick connects are not connected to the hoe or to each other all functions on this machine become unusable or don't work at all . It just seems when your machine got stuck and the hydraulic lines came apart this when your machine stopped moving forward .

The solenoids are electromagnets and the ones you are looking for are the two stacked end to end pointed back, the one should energize in fwd and the other in reverse. if so then I suppose that the internal valve in the solenoid stem could be stuck but that in my experience is a rarity. Back where they put those makes disconnect and reconnect an issue but youcould remove the whole solenoid assembly and bench test with test leads to watch the internal plunger move either direction. that would also physically let you check for something jamming the spool from moving.

Melben and I were typing the similar info. at the same time.

OK another thing I just noticed is, with key on ( tractor not running) and you switch shuttle from neutral to reverse it activates the reverse relay- which I assume is normal! But when I switch back to neutral and up to forward, the same relay is activated...shouldn't the forward.relay be activated and not the reverse one? I.did switch relays around to see if that would do anything different but there was no.change. Thanks again
