Bobcat 335. Leaks hydraulic oil fairly bad. Only when swinging. Pulled swing motor and the area below the swing motor was filled with oil. Should the swing motor be sealed so that no hydraulic fluid goes down to the pinion bearing, or is there suppose to be a seal on the pinion shaft to retain hydraulic fluid? In other words should I be able to pull the swing motor and run it without it being bolted to the machine without oil going everywhere?
Well, it looks like the swing motor drive carrier is lubed with hydraulic oil from the swing motor. Parts schematic shows a couple seals down there, so I'm going to replace them and see what happens.
We had the same issue on a Bobcat 425. Had to remove the motor carrier and rebuild completely. We replaced the bearings and pretty much everything except the shaft and housing. We found Timken numbers on the bearings after we ordered Bobcat parts. Timken were 1/3 the price on Amazon. Seals, o-rings, snap rings and spacers are definitely dealer items. Good luck.
