Tailgating New Haul Trucks

Metalman 55 ยท 2017-06-04 06:33

Our shop is fabricating/installing new tailgate assemblies for a couple of new haul trucks for a local quarry & here are some work in progress pics. Have not taken any pics for a few days but I believe it has been completed since the last pics were taken. The Cat 770G shown & the other was a Komatsu.

Looks great with plenty of clearance for those oversized chunks. Are those temporary supports in the second pic at the base of the gate?

Yes, they were just temporary as the gate was being fit up.

Very nice looking tailgates. Our weld shop fabbed up a tailgate for a 740. It turned out real nice and worked flawlessly. Was also around half the cost of buying one.

Any idea how much more material they can haul with the gate?

Don't think it would increase the cap more than 8% if that, but more to keep product from falling off the back. These trucks are likely carrying blast rock from the face to the primary, so would help keep big rocks from falling off the back.

Does this void warranty or is this a cat installation? Looks good
