What is the purpose of the gerator pump in this setup? and also anyone have any links on how these pumps work and how to work on them? it is made by sunstrand. thanks
Haven't had a great look at the system but the gerotor pump is possibly the charge pump that "Tops" up the "Closed Loop" Hydrostatic transmission circuit that you have. Search the net for a Closed Loop Hydrostatic transmission and you will find info. All these systems operate basically the same regarless of manufacturers with small variances. You will understand a Closed Loop Circuit, the Drive Pumps, Drive Motors, Opertaing Pressures, Charge Pump and circuit etc. Main system hydraulic circuit is a different circuit in your machine but has a relationship to the hydro circuit. Start there and you will have an easier time with the correcting problem. Good Luck
Cl, Check out Eaton Vickers "transmissions" on their literature homepage. I believe Eaton is the biggest domestic player in the hydrostatic drive market. You should be able to access some material that will help you get a basic understanding of closed circuit drive(hydrostatic transmision). As already mentioned regardless of the manufacturer, they all operate on the same principles. Good luck, Maytag
