Topsoil Marketing

Anyone out there have any clever tricks for marketing machined topsoil? I have adds on craigslist and a couple of other boards, made signs for our yard, and of course spread the word among truck drivers and landscapers... anything obvious I missed?

Got dirt? Need dirt? Call Joe Dirt. I worked for a company in the Columbus Ohio area that started that new outfit. All they did was buy, sell, trade, and find dump sites for dirt. It was quite the business. An office guy or two, a few field guys, and and excavator or two. They did a ton of business. Its all about marketing. Signs that ate up the entire sides of dump trucks with their info on it, basically rolling billboards. Another outfit they supplied topsoil to marketed to the home owner. They had quite the fleet of trucks, most of which ran as brokered rigs most of the day, and towards the end of the day they all broke off to haul topsoil to Joe Homeowner. They also had a few slinger trucks that they ran topsoil with. For them, it was all about catering to the home owner, and their needs. They ran a lot of media, print, radio, and tv adds.

Local fellow here has his truck beds lettered in 4' tall letters- "Top Soil 580-DIRT" . Easy to understand, easy to remember as you see them driving around. I concur on catering to the homeowners. Might also want to reach out to the small skid steer operators and small concrete guys.
