I am new to this forum and heavy trucks. My dads company has a 315 cat and i was wondering if we could use a 6 wheeler with a pusher axle to tow the machine. The weight of the machine and trailer is 55000lbs. I was also wonder what truck maker has the best truck. if Cummins engines are a good heavy duty truck engine. and what size the truck needs. i was also looking at maxforce engines and PACCAR engines
can any body help me please thank
I have in the past used a Mack set up in that configuration with a Rogers trailer to move a 315C. Always liked using the triaxle better when I did move it. As far as engines they are all good when they run. Tri state Kenworth service is great. So the Paccar engine shouldn't be a problem.
Welcome to the forum shadow. :usa I don't know much about the transportation part of machines. If you could post some pics of the truck and trailer along with the weight ratings you might get some better input from members who transport equipment.
I am new to large truck and i am getting my cdl class a in a couple of weeks. I am looking at a new peterbilt truck. The truck have a gross vehicle weight of 60000 lbs and the ability to hold a 20000 lbs pin tail load. THe truck would have 400 or more horse power engine and a 9 lo, lo-lo transmission. the trailer would be a 25 ton beaver tail thank joe
I'd look at pre 07 emissions, 07 or 06, that way you don't have to deal with the DPF shenanigans. We tow a 315 with our 07 T800 and Trailmax TRD54T. The truck has a 475 Cat C15 and 18 speed, tows it great no problem.
This combination should easily handle a 315. Just be very careful to load it properly to balance the load right so it handles safely. Also, don't scrimp on load securement. Remember this load will be wide and may need a permit in Ct. Be very careful because the average driver turns off their brains when they see something like this coming. Usually a driver will get a lot of experience before being sent to move equip. Always think ahead. Always think. When the other drivers behave inappropriately just stop and be patient. Always think. Be careful. Always think. Good luck.
Not a permit required load in Connecicut.
Thanks, state to state it changes I can do 12' wide w/o permit in SC.
how would you chain down the machine. What would be the right sized engine for the truck. thank for your help
is the truck a triaxle or a 6 wheeler with a pusher axle. thanks joe
2 drive axles, 1 pusher axle we don't drop it when we pull a 315 though, and 1 steer axle. the trailer is a 3 axle trailer. Just chain down from the tracks to the trailer on 4 corners and throw a chain acrossed the boom if the DOT cop is around. CAT says now I heard you're supposed to go way up to the center of the undercarrige but nobody here does.
could I tow the mechine with only one drive axle and a pusher
Yes, Chain the boom and 2 to 3 chains on machine. Twenty or twenty five ton trailer and tow with your pusher /tag down.
what size chain and binder are required
3/8, you can get away with 5/16 over the boom.
paccar makes engines?
In my opinion, they make badges that go on green painted Cummins engines...
grade 70 chain & rachet binders AW Direct online or Branch Warehouse in Newington has retail store that has all the chain and binders you'll need
What size engine and transmission would be best for this truck. How to back in on only the drive axle or rear axle should the axle be rated higher the 23,000lbs. Are the bed liners for dump truck worth the money. Do the protect the bed from rocks. how heavy should the pintail hook be rated at. What is an air adjust coupling vs non air and witch is a beter way to go. what else should be on a truck like this one. thank you
We have hauled a 320cl with a 350 hp 3176 cat but i would not recomend it. We use a tandume axel t800 kenworth dump with i belive a 50,000 rated pintel hitch and a tandum axel trail king 40,000 lb trailer to haul out 315bl. Just boom down on the tracks as has ben mentioned. Truck has a c12 400 hp and is ok in the flat lands of indiana. Jason
Dose any one know how to get out of paying fet tax on a truck. I was thinking buying the truck with out the lift using it for awhile then put the lift on the truck and reregister the vehicle to the weight of 54000 lbs.
The only legal way of getting out of paying FET is buy a used truck..
