a quick video of a 999 luffer. i was going to run it but the bozo-puter in it froze up. YouTube - manitowoc 999 luffer
great video Q, one of my favorite cranes
GOT LUFF? thats a pretty sweet unit.
Nice Vid Qball. It always has to be an electrical gremlin or computer these days huh? I am quite jealous of 150's facility, I recently watched your youtube video of the indoor training facility, and sadly it is much bigger and stocked with alot more toys than ours... your crane yard too. Looked like heaven! And speaking of cranes with luffers... not much to say there. hahaha 150 is on top of the world with thier facility. its more like a college than anything :drinkup
that's a really nice rig. lucky you for getting to run it. what kind of jobs are you doing with that bad boy? why do they call it a luffer boom?
Howdy, Cool video. Just wanted to say hello to the man who quite a few seem to love, but most seem to hate. I browse other forums from time to time and your name sho' nuff ruffles a few feathers. I find it very entertaining watching the masses uproar when you stir the pot in the diecast world. Very funny. Stir when you can brother.
it is a nice rig. it is not on a job, it is at my union's training site. it is called a luffer because it luffs. that means the jib can move, or luff under load.
hey q-ball, I have always heardyour local has a good facility, ours at local 825 in n.j. is really great too. We have a new 222 ,grove rt, link belt 518, 3900,two 22b clam and drag cranes hoes all over the place, 977L, 963 and a boat load of dozers. And all the instructors are great guys.:usa
Sounds more like a sailboat than a crane---jib and sails luffing. LOL.
I always thought that was funny, i work at a boat yard and marina that specializes in sailboats, so when were running the crane theres some common sailing/crane humor... Though we dont have a luffing jib... well on the crane atleast.. see?
