I've been reading about amorphous metals and their uses in comparison to crystalline metals. Amorphous alloys like http://www.nealloys.com/kovar.php are being used in aircraft and military defense industries but I haven't found much information about their uses in heavy machinery. Is there a significant difference between crystalline and non-crystalline metals that make them more suitable for uses in different industries? If amorphous metals are being used for aircraft, would that not make them suitable for use in our industry?
