how do u turn track bushings? i have torches, a small press, various other tools is this somthing im capable of doing?
Id go with no. You need a really good press. Up here we don't turn bushings its not worth it. Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEAnbnTUz-g
It is a lot of work and better left to someone who has a track press. Most remove the track and roll it up and drop it off at a dealer that does track work. Pads are removed, then a press with the correct adapters are used to remove the pins and separate the bushing from the rails, most have a min 100 ton machine track press or bigger that do this cause it takes a good deal of force. We had a portable OTC one and they work well to brake the track, and do some link repairs but I would not want to do a set with it on a good day. Once the bushing are ready to go back, they are rotated for the sprocket surface and internal wear around 1/3 turn and pressed back in the rails, the track pins also are turned around 1/3 turn, the turning of both pin and bushing bring the chain group back into the correct pitch. Depending if it is a dry or salt rail other steps have to be taken. A few pic's would help to see what your dealing with. Their is lots of variable's to undercarriage repairs, and track chain work unless replacing a assembly, I have learned to let a dealer knock it apart, it's big hard work even with the right equipment.
thankyou guess out of my league ive learned more from this website in the last week than in the last year does anyone know buckethead? he said he had a pony motor like 50 threads back?
