Volvo experts help! I have a Volvo EC 290 C we're on the second ECU. Ran great for one job now it keeps blowing fuse when you crank Only code we get is climate control. We ordered new ECU but need to track down reasons that would cause blown fuses. Any ideas? Thanks.

I am not any expert. But... What are the blown fuse supplying, in detail. Measure the resistanse of the component the blown fuse supplies and compare with spec, or test the supplied components in another way. Check for wire scaffing on the wires powered by said blown fuse. You might need an electric diagram to accurately track down components and wires.

Thanks. So we got 200hrs on last ECU before it started burning fuses. There are two plugs on ECU lower one when plugged in does not blow fuse but top plug will blow the fuse, this harness supplies the power to ECM. Both plugs are joined together in the harness so it's hard to isolate them. Also looking for someone that repairs ECM's that is reputable .

If you're blowing fuses, it's drawing to much current, what does the actual fuse supply? the ECU or something else, what fuse number is it?

Yes powers ECU I don't know fuse number but can get it. Like I said it worked fine for 200 hrs then blew fuse Now blowing fuse when key turned on. Get a code for climate control. Thanks for responding.

what's the code your getting and the fuse number, lets see if there is any correlation

Which fuse? Which ECU? Code number? Who has been performing the diagnostics and repairs? Lots of missing information here.

Not sure of the codes as I'm not near machine. We got a new cpu from Friday Parts put it in pulled fuse for climate control and it runs great. We now just noticed a rust hole above cpu which means water was dripping on cpu which could be the problem. We're removing cpu when not operating until rust is fixed. They gave a discount on CPU as we had problems, under $700 including programming. Volvo wanted like $6000.
