I have a Volvo L150 E Ser. 7009 We recently put a new fuel pump on this unit and it ran fine for about a month. Then the unit starting shutting down on its own. You can run keep the unit running by holding the throttle wide open but when you let off it shuts down. You can wait a few minutes, turn the key and it fires right up then shuts down on its own - - anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds after starting. We took the fuel pump and had it check and it tested GOOD. So my initial thoughts are something electrical - causing the unit to shut down. We've replace two of the three ECU's - - only one we did not replaced is the I-ECU which is the display in the cab. Anyone ever had this problem ??? Thanks in advance for your guidance on the matter

when you say you've replaced two of the three ecu's are these new/recon from volvo units or secondhand? by the looks of it, the e series loaders have a few "issues" with ecu's, if they are new/recon do they have the latest updates for software? have you had any error codes come up when it happens?

Both ECU's (one behind the seat and the one on the side of the engine with used) - off a running machine. Again, replaceing both of these had no affect. In terms of the latest software, we did not flash these units as they were already flashed. No error codes appeared on the display.

May be a restriction in the fuel supply line. Try rigging a remote line to the fuel pump from a seperate container to see if the problem stays the same. If the problem has gone away you have a restriction somewhere in the tank pickup or a blockage somewhere in the supply line. Other possibility is the throttle position sensor. Restriction can cause low fuel pressure that will shut you down, full throttle may give you enough fuel to get the pressure up enough to keep running.

Hi There, what year is your machine?, some of the earlier ones had problems with fuel filter heads! would do similar things! What type of filter s does yours have twin or single? Aiden

second that, flapper valve in the head filter. check the fuel feed pressure, need a special fitting. another test to do : unplugged the return fuel hose that goes to the tank and put it in a container, run the engine and check if you have enough flow. could be a return check valve for fuel pressure that stay open.
