Volvo introduced pipelayer on excavator chassis which can rotate 360 degree. Pipelayer models are PL4608 and PL4611. I just gone through with the specification and have doubt on the performance which Volvo is claiming. In my opinion machine is very unstable as boom is attach with a rotating turret supported on a center column bearing. Further there is no point to have pipelayer with rotating capability in pipe laying activity. I don't find it useful during pipe lowering. If any one have a experience of that machine then please share his or her comments. Thanks Zia
This machine has been around for a while. I believe Davis Pipelayer was the original. Tying in is where these machines would shine IMO.
