Volvo Wheel Loader Slider glass!

djfk1991 · 2023-11-07 11:20

I am wondering does anybody know how to replace the slider glass on the Volvo l120d! It’s on the door, I purchased the glass from Volvo dealer but no information in service manual regarding changing it!

Typically, slider units require removal from the door, whether it's glued in or laced in. Then either a screw or two is removed to allow frame spread, or the frame is physically spread open. There are some sliders where when the lower felt is removed, a filler plate is lifted out, allowing the glass to lower and tilt out (in) at the top. I'm not volvo hip, so a part number on the glass may help me to see the style.

So I'm almost sure it's the same as the dumpers, and as @heymccall said, you have to remove the window frame from the cab first, they are glued/silicone in. Best way we have found so far ( and this depends on access and shape of frame profile ) is a very sharp blade and a space heater to keep the sealant a little more pliable, keep working your way along and gently forcing it away from the cab. if you can make a hole through use wire as its quicker and easier ( but often the frame profile won't allow a hole through ) Once out you'll need to clean the corners up until you can see a screw head, now you have to be very careful with this as the frame is extruded aluminium, one cross thread and its game over. If it's the same frame design as the dumpers there are channels made in the frame which help to keep the whole thing bonded to the door once refitted, so they could do with getting cleaned out, we use a wire wheel on a die grinder, then you'll need a tube of Sikaflex to refit the window.
