I got hydraulic pump timed or close. We got engine started and it runs a little while and then starts to knock and will slow and stop Also seems to have a lot of white smoke. We are thinking this may be more of a fuel problem more than timing. put in new fuel injectors.
In my mind, knocking is way too advanced timing, and white smoke is too late (or air will cause it to be late). Does the engine knock and smoke white at the same time? Does it ever run smooth? How long did it run before it slowed and stopped? and how many times?
it seems to run fairly good for 3 or4 minutes but smokes a fair amount then starts to knock so we shut it off. yes it does not stop smoking Started it about 9 or 10 times
I'd try turning the timing back several degrees. Maybe it runs OK when cold but as it warms up the ignition speeds up also and causes the knocking when it gets closer to operating temp?
