Wheel loader getting weak going into pile. How does a person test the torque converter, that is what it's acting like anyway.

I usually start by doing stall tests on the converter. If you have a service manual you can look up an RPM specification with the torque converter at full stall. That will involve putting the transmission in third gear, release the park brake and lock up the service brake. Raise the engine to high idle and then drop the transmission into third gear forward. The engine RPM will drop in RPM and that is you specification. If you are lower than spec in the book, you likely have an engine power problem. If you do not drop to that spec and your transmission temperature nearly instantly rises, you likely have a torque converter issue.
