So i got a phone call at 6:30 this morning saying: We worked late last night and about 7:30 your lift caught on fire! Yeah........... Where to begin. This is a 2006 Genie S65 ford gasser. I went to the job today to have a look and it is not good. Looks to me the fuel line blew off the filter assembly and sprayed on the exhaust. This is awesome because it burnt the harness from the fuel panel to the engine and everything in between. The guys put it out fairly soon so it didnt get really hot. It just barely melted the fuse panel and burnt the plastic off the wiring. Looks to me that there are two harnesses in this vicinity. I would have taken a picture but it was pouring and i was already soaked to the bone. I am thinking that i could get a harness from a junkyard off a Ford Ranger. Is that a reasonable statement? I have a Genie scissor with the same setup so im going to have a look at that in the morning and go from there.

Sorry for the rant!! Nothing a few cold ones wont fix. Does anybody have any bright ideas on this?

Let me know what kind of governor is on the engine, Bosch, Precision Governor or Barber Colman. I have a boatload of old harnesses laying outside the shop that you may have for the asking.

Thank you! I will check into that. The machine is about an hour away so i am going to try and get it this weekend. Not going to be fun to load this up where its broken down.

They don't always break down in a convenient location or at a comfortable temperature range!

No they dont....... I looked over the Genie scissor today. The only problem i see is there is a harness that runs from the engine back to the control panel. Like i said before, it just burnt the casing off the wires. So with that said, could i heat wrap all those wires in that harness? Or is that a bad idea? :Banghead

the only wires that are needed to be concerned about will be the ones for the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. They are shielded and can pick up noise that can confuse the computer if their integrity is damaged. If they are ok then it will probably be all right to reuse what you got.

Does anyone have a downloadable parts book for the Ford LRG-425? Time to bust out the wallet on this. Also, can someone recommend a good source for parts? Ford industrial dealers are few and far between.
