What do you consider a big company?

What do you guys look at when considering if a company is good sized or not? Number of employees? Pieces of equipment? Contracts? Just wondering, trying to compare local companies around here to other states, and see how they stack up.

How much Bonding they have, and what they are capable of doing. Worked for an outfit with over 50 pieces of gear including trucks and Iron,And as many as 50 employees in the summer, but the most bonding they ever had on their own was 5 or 6 million. Work for an outfit now with about a third of that gear, not including the asphalt plants, and they can bid 50 million or more, and if backed by the parent company Colas, could most likely bid any job they wanted. They rent about 50-60% of the gear for jobs, so when the season or job is over, so are the payments. They keep a key "Skeleton" crew busy most of the time, Maybe ten guys+ office help, then lay off in the winter for a few months. Hire out of the hall, so when a job is finished and no demand is needed for help, they lay off. When busy there is usually 40-50 employees. They are small, yet big in another aspect. And really just a division of Colas, which is HUGE and employs 42000 worldwide..
