I have seen these dozers on E Bay and some auction sites like Richie Bros.and Iron Planet.Might give you an idea. Will the engine turn over by.You need to check for missing parts.Still need to buy cheap. You can get most parts at salvage yards and lots of new parts

As is if it turns over I would say $750. - $1500. Depends on the collectors pocketbook.

Not sure if this will help.Call some Cat Dealers with the serial #.If the owner ever bought parts at a Cat Dealer it will be on record.

Like the others said - Start at scrap price. It does look like a 5U (Wide guage D2. The 5U is the most common D2 variant at 18,894 made) (The U series had the carrier roller) so that puts the year around 1947 to 1957. The undercarriage looks like it's in sad shape, with the idler tread looking thin and grooves worn right into the carrier rollers.

can you pull start it? we had one on the ranch and worked it all the time. mabey it's just plug wires or something but starting it with gas looks like it'll take some time. If it runs and works it'd probably go for over $2K but as is........? not much unless he guarantees it'll run.

Ive been to busy to get back over there, if I can Id like to go see if the engine will move tomorrow. Then Ill toss him a offer. I dont remember the ser# but I do remember 5U.
