How big of chipper and trencher? Are they a skid steer mounted type attachment or are they self propelled equipment? Just wondering if its bigger equipment, from the Orlando Richie Bros auction to El dorado hills california, $3500 works out to $1.23 per mile. Thats Shipping wars rates. If its a part load I wouldn't think that to bad. If its a full load, I wouldn't want it shipped by someone whos working that cheap.

    Try uship.com

That sounds very fair, driver gets .40 cents a mile around here, so between fuel and wear and tear there's not much wiggle room there for the trucking company.

Uship has worked for us... If you're not comfortable with the bidder, just pass. I currently have a 2008 Peterbuilt 367 (ISX 485 with allison auto) in Oregon that needs driving back to Wisconsin. Some throw out crazy figures and I just pass. Unless someone bites quick, I fly out to get it myself. (That's a plug to anyone interested) If you don't get a good number, just go pick it up.

A few years ago a friend of mine was in the same situation; he bought an excavator in Florida and had it trucked to California. He used to lowest priced trucker who bid on the transport. The first time my friend got a phone call, the trucker said he was broke-down in Alabama (or somewhere). The trucker needed a several hundred dollars to fix something, else-wise he was stationary. Then the next phone call... you get the picture.... The trucker that you hire has your consent/permission to but your equipment on his truck, and drive away with it. There's something to be said for using an established trucking company or broker.
