This morning I met with the design engineer for a pavement rehab, new curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm drain system for an upcoming project in Skagway. Basic project with issues. It is within NRHP historic district and there is oil contaminated soil in the ROW that is coming from an unknown source and since it is FHWA funded, it will have to be cleaned up. Also working on a USFWS Eagle Disturbance Permit for an erosion control project on Kodiak Is. A consultant is doing design but I have the eagle permit because I have done 15-20 of them in the past few years. My saying is, “the only thing consistent here is the inconsistency”.
Yesterday I drained 10 gallons of gas out of a diesel forklift. Customer claimed it just shut off, and nobody will fess up to fueling it up. Had it going in about half an hour after flushing the injection system.
How is contaminated soil cleaned over there, here in the netherlands on small sites it is dug out and cleaned at a washplant, then filled back up with pre cleaned soil Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Nobody knew how it got there, always the same story everywhere in the world Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Several methods are used in Alaska depending on conditions. Sometimes it is dug up and burnt at high temps; others can be stored and treated with fertilizer for a long-term breakdown, others are packed and shipped to licensed facilities in the lower-48. We have to deal with everything from petroleum to chemicals to paint and so on, Each one is different while being the same, but if it is in our ROW, it gets cleaned up.
Prettymuch the same here, dutch law states that for road constructions, soundwalls and such the soil used doesnt even need to be totally clean as long as it is isolated from ground water Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Plant work today, in Huntsville...we did have to load test some cranes, but mainly industrial engineering work. Howard
Well, today I finish graded a lawn so the homeowner could seed it Then I was off to unload some trees at a different job Then I left a went and finish graded a spot and seeded it, it was dark by time I got loaded up and chained down and everything cleaned up, didn't get a picture.
Nice, I have the same engine stand, didnt think it could hold a C27! What does the adapter plate look like? Looks like you work at a dealer? Or ? I have two finished C32 heads and nobody wants them...Any ideas on how I could sell these things? Been sitting on a shelf for a year now.
Can make you a pic of the plate with the part nr, it will hold the c27 but turning with the heads and all on is hard. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Could just put them on ebay, or some parts website, Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Continued In-frame overhaul on a CAT C13, more like in frame complete engine rebuild though. I also installed a flywheel on a John Deere 4.5L engine. Oh haha and I helped bring a 1ton log into my friends office for his tree service business, you know, decoration.
They have been on ebay for dirt cheap. I think there is no market for them. Yeah send me a pic of plate, thanks.
Isnt there a possibillity that you send them in for reman, full core charge is quit a lot Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Here the plate and the part nr Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Collected a repaired truck seat from the trimmers and installed it. Fixed a water-in-fuel problem on a CS74 roller. Diagnosed/repaired open circuit to A/C wiring on a 365 HEX. Fabricated a cross head puller to dismantle an MJP marine jet drive. Chased up outstanding invoices from June Did the weekly payroll.

Dismantled and disconnected electrics On a Lippmann tip rap plant. Piloted all gear to new location and loosely set up... Then thought about the repair I will be doing tomorrow to the 25kg stacker hopper which is completely goosed!
I take it thats the crosshead puller and marine jet drive? Can you elaborate, what is a marine jet drive?
It's one of these; The bit on the floor behind the job is the bit in the picture with the two hydraulic steering cylinders running alongside. The part we're working on is the housing for the main propellor bearings which live within. Together the sub-assembly is about 1.2 tonnes of cast, machined 316 stainless. When it's running, the bearings are fed with pressurised, constantly circulated and filtered oil. The main oil seal had failed creating something of a slick behind the boat. You want to complain about the cost of Cat parts? How do you fancy dropping $18K for one seal?
Bore repair on a 950g bucket welded up the hole almost 1/2 inch before i could bore it back to size Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
Just boomin' the day away. This was first thing is morning.
Pictures being shared of excavator buckets close to piping in the gas compressor stations being shared are frowned upon. Ive spent the last few months working around major gas transmission piping. We are making capital improvements in areas with several different pipes besides the mains. Each valve has 3-6 lines running to them for multiple uses. Everything has 600-1500psi running through it depending on location in the station
Sunday morning leftover job- replaced turbo and exhaust manifold on Series 60 plus one axle worth of shoes and drums and full serviced. Truck Shop
Delivery of completed John Deere 4045T Powertech engine. Helped a customer load 3 Capacity Yard Trucks onto a flatrack trailer to be shipped overseas, Looked at a C15 engine that needs all six liner seats cut and shimmed.
JD 450B with 4 in 1 bucket...clam cylinders at rebuilder (one pin was STUCK, 16lb hammer driven by Thor with 175k rosebud and #3 cutting tip for heat to remove.). Now making new pins out of 1.5" W1 round stock, one hole left to drill, followed by heat treat at 1450F and a brine quench. Will reheat to draw temper in welding rod oven. Howard

I watched cat blow up a c18 in a 836k .thankfully it blew up at an idle but It has big holes in the block regardless, oil pan is just barely hanging on. Yay for extended power train warranty
Some one help with loading pictures from iphone on photo buckets
Yikes! have any pics? How did they manage to blow holes in the block? Years ago i saw a guy do the same to a Deutz V12 engine in an old Ingersoll Rand LF-750 compactor. was not pretty.
#4 rod broke at the big end 3hrs after egr cooler replacement and had low oil pressure fault immediately afterwards. Cat tested and changed oil and filter but he didnt cut filter open before he released it. If he had there was a small chance it may have been savable maybe. This engine has been an assache of problems since new 3500 hrs 2 egr coolers 1st one at 300 hrs and had to pull the head on that one. 3 injectors a broken front cover and oil pan gasket.this is in an 836 k the old 836h that just went thru a full rebuild went 22,500 hrs with no major engine work and 2 tranny repairs one of which was a rebuild
thanks for the pic Walker. That is a mess for sure. Our 836H had an in frame done at 7500 hours, had a piston come apart and the others were showing signs of the same fate. Hell of a machine tho.
