Working Foreman/Lead Operator – Stormwater/Stream (Hands on, Environmental)

CorMagstone · 2025-11-12 11:50

Who we are: Magstone — family-owned civil/environmental contractor out of Union Bridge, MD . We build/maintain stormwater infrastructure: erosion & sediment control, BMP retrofits, drainage (pipe/inlets/manholes), concrete structures, grading, and stream restoration . We keep the equipment in good shape (GPS where it makes sense) and try to do clean work without the circus. What the job actually is: A working foreman who isn’t allergic to a seat, a shovel, or a set of plans. You’ll run with a small crew, set the pace, jump on equipment, and make sure the work is safe, neat, and to spec. Day-to-day looks like: Reading plans, setting grades/elevations, keeping work moving Pipe/inlet/manhole sets, outfalls, riprap/gabions, small concrete structures, BMP conversions Stream/wet work when we have it (SPSC, cross-vanes, restorations, etc.) QC + safety: walk the work, fix issues before they become problems Light tablet/iPad stuff (tickets, photos, simple reports) Working nicely with PMs/supers, vendors, inspectors, crew What you need to bring: Real field time as a foreman/lead (stormwater/E&S/utility/sitework) Can run an excavator/loader/dozer without scaring the neighbors Reads plans, shoots grades, mentors the crew, keeps it safe (OSHA-minded) Problem-solver, not a problem-maker. Clean work, decent pace, minimal drama. GPS experience is a plus; not a deal-breaker. Pay & perks: $26–$36/hr (based on experience) Paid travel/drive time (yes, actually paid) Benefits: 401(k)+match, medical/dental/vision, PTO, life Steady work mainly in MD (occasional nearby PA/VA ) 40-60 hour weeks depending on your availabilities and ours. Very flexible on that front. Shop/area: Union Bridge, MD — we work all over Maryland. Some of our guys live in southern PA and commute. How to throw your hat in: Drop me a message here or email [email protected] Quick intro + where you’ve worked + what you run best = perfect Bonus points if you can: Snap a few pics of recent pipe/structure/riprap work you’re proud of Tell me how you keep crews on pace without burning them out What you won’t get: Endless meetings Junk iron that ruins your day “Hurry up and wait” with no plan If you’re a hands-on foreman who likes clean installs, safe sites, and equipment that isn’t beat to death, let’s talk. We’re hiring now and can move fast for the right fit.

Good luck. You’re 30k a year under realistic wages, maybe more depending on location.

I know a working Foreman in Union Bridge. He gets the projects done mighty quick. A trip or two to the blue room, helps him do the trick. His Boss would pat him on the back whenever he would come around. 'Cause these damned blue-collar tweekers They're beloved in this town.

Im a working foreman. Small crew. Operator laborer truck driver. Small jobs. Asphalt prep. I run the grader sometimes excavator survey first aid safety laborer deal with customer. I can not effectively run a larger project. I can't keep grading steady, deal with flaggers, deal with inspectors deal with the public ( because if someone gets a rock in the windshield the others are quick to point you out as thr boss). Keep track of quantities in order to decide when to cut trucks off from hauling. Keep track of what time by the hour trucks start and stop Handle the constant texts and phone calls They want me to do that stuff, they have to put an operator in the machine or put up with me not working steady because all this other stuff must be dealt with.

Damn, this actually sounds like a legit setup. No busted equipment, no endless meetings, just real work with a crew that knows what they’re doing. If I was anywhere near MD, I’d be throwing in my resume - jobs like this don’t pop up often.
