I have seen first hand what a grader can pull with no chains. Next to useless. We were stuck in the mud. The grader was soon stuck in the ditch in front of us. One has to know when to give up. It is always better to watch than be involved in the show. Thanks for the entertainment.

Oh it was very cold out...-28 to be exact. We finally ended up just driving it further into the ditch and down the road to get it out.

Well, that's one way to clear the ditch...loader tires. LoL :tong

It's how we do it in Canada boss.

There's two miles of ditch for every mile of road. Might as well use em.

How does that push CD? We have similar chains on our loader, but instead of diamonds the pattern is square, and we only have them on the front. I'd like to put a set on the rear too. How much snow can you push running up hill with that set up?

  11. #11Colorado Digger2011-01-21 07:19

no thread hijack it pushes pretty darned good. it is a little loader so i am waiting to here about that. th.e chains are super expensive but if you keep them tight and well maintained they last. i am now looking at a michelin snow tire to go on the loader. here is a deere with the michelen snow tires. he does not seem to be getting stuck. maybe the snow is different in canada:usa:usa:usa:tong

We have snow tires on almost all of our loaders now. The tires work out real well. Wear nice on the road, give a good ride and have great traction. A little pricey but worth it if you are going to keep the machine around for while.

do you run them all year long?

  14. #14EGS2011-01-22 11:49

The loaders mostly sit all summer. He has a contract to haul out all the manure from UW-Madison so one or two go there in the summer. If they get used much in the summer then the tires do get changed. These loaders are my friends at home not from my regular summer job.

No angle blades here but my old man uses them on backhoes. Out here people use big snow pushes (box blades) on the front of the loaders. They work sometimes...lol

  16. #16EGS2011-01-23 14:18

What brand of box blades do you guys run up there? Daniels, Protec?

  17. #17Burnout2011-01-23 19:56

Everyone runs Degelman, Avalanche and Viking snow pushes.
