HP 590 - Pressure switch number 0501206628, is hooked in parallel with the retarder solenoid. It Measures 1 ohm across contacts at all times. When I remove this pressure switch from the circuit retarder works fine, if I reconnect there is too much of a voltage drop for retarder solenoid to work. Does anyone know what purpose this switch performs? Why is it hooked up in parallel and not in series, shorting the circuit does not seem like a very wise way of shutting down the retarder. Transmission seems to operate fine with the switch disconnected, but i'm not sure if the switch is bad or there is just not enough pressure in the transmission to open the switch contacts. Anyone out there have any knowledge on this? Thanks in advance.
