Morning gents. Bought myself a decent condition 03 345BL for a steal of a price back in July. They said it had a leak on one of one of the swing motors and that they fixed it however this doesnt seem to be the case. Was using it on a pond job back in January and it started leaking fluid out of the turn table. Opened the top hatch find a mixture of fluid and water. Drained it all out Thinking they hadnt done it when fixing it, covered it and ran it a bit more 2 days later it was doing it again. The issue is it seems to be a mix of gear oil and hydraulic oil. Is there anyway without pulling the fuel tank side swing motor to figure out what it is leaking for sure before I got taking things apart
Hi Holdenhomes The swing motor gearboxes would typically have dipsticks or fill level inspection plugs for checking the level and condition of the gearbox oil for the slew drive. if the gearbox section were becoming overfill with hydraulic oil then this could indicate a problem with that slew drive motor and gearbox arrangement where the hydraulic motor has leaked into the gearbox and then blown past the gearbox seal into the swing ring grease bath. Best regards
So it's the swing motor closest to the fuel tank with a CAT reman tag on it of 05/20, the yard i purchased it from "Allegedly did it" however they were shady. I'm assuming it can just be rebuilt with a parts kit from CAT?
Have you checked the oil level in both swing drive boxes ?
Yes the one closest to the fuel tank is low however it one day randomly over flowed out of the fill hole. I keep losing hydro oil and gear oil so im assuming it's leaking both?
For more accurate service information searching please post a machine Serial Number. I see over 30 different flavours of 345B.
