1 paticular Cat service department

talknfast ยท 2013-10-22 09:41

I recently took my skid steer to our local cat service department to get serviced and to fix a parking brake issue. They changed the fluids and blower like they informed me they was going to do they changed a battery cable then charged me 10 hours of troubleshooting and said they never found the problem. i passed out when they gave me 4900 bill but thought well at least ill have back 100% my machine almost immediately after unloading it 30 miles from there location it was making some new noise the engine was running rough there was antifreeze dripping on manifold the new battery cable so short its holding battery up they didn't even put the bracket on it then i lost all my hydraulics its not doing anything still sitting in middle of the jobs road since Friday evening its now Tuesday. They are not even trying to be supportive telling me service men are gonna call when they don't can they charge me 10 hours of troubleshooting with all there equipment and skill to not find nothing then a countryboy can find it in 20 minutes. it dosent seem fair do i just move on and learn not to trust my local cat dealer or stop payment on 4900 check and tell them ill pay em when they fix the problem?

Sounds like they think they have a license to steal. Make them fix it, you may need to go higher up than the service manager. Have your work order with you and go in person and explain in a calm manner what your post says. Keep going up the ladder until you get results.

    Fluids, battery cable + 10 hrs = $4,900?............???

Lol yes they have a liscense to steal and everyone just puts up with it.....not sure why tho..... The other day I had my mechanic drop off a set of tracks to have a link taken out and he was there for 4 hours (he waited on them and even helped thier mechanic) when I got the bill they charged me for 7 hours...... ***!

No way they can be worse than Holt...I drive an hour out of my way to get to another dealer that treats me like a human.

    Flat rate?

Wow, that makes me feel good, the main reason I keep buying Cats is Blanchard Cat is so good to deal with... I second what Powerjoke said, keep going up the line until they make it right. Fluids, a blower motor, battery cable, and 10hrs troubleshooting; $4900. Just damn.

Yes keep going up the chain. This is not right and they should make it right.

Uhhh...that's a one hour job in the shop up here in canada.....maybe 2 hours on the machine in the field

They charged me hourly They charged me $692 to press out 1 link out of each track of a 963.... To top it off the whole reason i decided to even do it at all was because it broke a link (about 3 from the master) ..... Well...... they left the broken link lol. Pj

If you don't get satisfaction with the dealer, go to the Cat website and poke around. You'll find a link to contact Corporate directly and tell them your story. They have a pretty tight reign on their dealers and I bet you get a phone call pretty quickly.

Hell I've hauled our blade to Holt to fix it when Mustang couldn't. I though Holt was ok....maybe not.

Not defending Cat BUT there are two sides to everything, even a pancake, and we haven't heard a word from the "Other" side to be fair in making judgements...

It must be Holt. In my time looking after mining equipment here in Texas, I found Holt to be the worst, when it comes to service, and overcharging for that poor service. Mustang got a lot of my business due to Holt's poor performance. I even used the Volvo dealer and the Komatsu dealers to work on my Cat machines, instead of Holt.

Three sides to all stories, stay calm, talk to branch management, take pictures, don't stop payment, demand it's fixed, make them show you detailed work order for hours billed, 10 hours ain't no 4K. Everyone makes mistakes, give them chance to fix it then fight them, you still need machine fixed asap so you can work.

My dealer Ziegler Cat is right on top of things. They did some major work on one of my 950's and instead of a bill they inadvertently sent me a credit for $42,000 instead of the bill. I didn't even have to contact them , they made the proper adjustment on their own....lol.

You Texas guys complaining about Holt, obviously haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with Wagner; buyer beware

  19. #19dayexco2015-01-14 22:31

gee, CAT would never do that to a customer, would they? i mean paying 30% more for the equipment than other manufacturers entitles us to a few gimmes, doesn't it?

Just wondering how you are making out with said dealer?
