1044c-54 lull with lumber fork add-on option

Hi, We are looking to buy a lull to move equipments and shipping containers around. The 1044C has a "lumber fork" add-on with size 1.75x7x60in. Does the 60" means maximum width? The side holes on the shipping container are 66" min width and 94" max (each hole is 14" wide). Can this lull have forks that fit shipping containers? Is it doable? Thanks for any input.

I don't think you will find a factory frame that will fit the width of the conex. It would be easier to have one made/ modify a factory one, to make a wider frame. You'll want some longer forks also. Most guys that move conexes all the time use a larger straight mast forklift. 15-20k capacity. Moving 20' ones is fine with a lull- you'll need to be careful with 40's.

Ditto on what crane operator said. A telehandler is not designed to move contianers. Can you do it yes. The carriage width does not allow forks to reach pockets. Our container rental division uses straight mast forklifts to move and load. Anytime we have to move one around we do it with a 10k or 12k tele and its a pain. Lift one side block it. Lift the other block it. Then get forks under it. If moving containers is all your going to use it for I would look for a bigger straight mast with a hydraulic carriage. But yes 60" is the outside width or carriage. So forks come up short of 60" when fully opened. Lumber forks are the forks themselves not the carriage .
