10w30 or 15w40 for Mitsubishi 15T engine

I think I know the answer to this one…manual for the old Kobelco K909 with the Mitsubushi 15T diesel engine calls for 10w30, but I have cases of 15w40 diesel lying around that I’d like to use. Realistically I will not be using this machine when it gets below 40 or 50 outside. Am I safe with the 40 weight???

    I really can't see a reason not to go with 15-40. How old is the machine?

    It’s a ’91. Mitsubushi manual doesn’t state a weight, just says API CD or better for the turbo engine.
