What is the Serial number of the machine? Do you have any fault codes? The problem could be the solenoid for reverse. When shifted into reverse, there is one solenoid valve common to all gear ranges that must be energized to shift out of neutral into reverse. That is the only thing it does so it wouldn't affect any other gears. The valves are located on the rear of the transmission on the left side facing toward the front of the machine. There are 8 of them, 2 rows of 4. If I remember right (this is not certain at my age) the top one on the left will be the reverse solenoid. You can swap the top 2 to see if it goes into reverse then, they are all the same. Good luck!

I have problem on 140h motor grader forward gears are ok but reverse gear not working

First need a machine Serial Number. Second need to know what you have done/checked so far.

    Serial number: #9TN00094

I exchange solenoid and ut worked well later the same problem returned when we checked Et it's lead us to power supply low and solenoid number 2 power low . After replacing them foward gear function wen but reverse didn't respond

Do you still have ET available.? If you do then please download a Product Status Report in Adobe pdf format and post it up. Also is the transmission warning indicator (#5 below) on the EMS panel lit up.?

I don't have the et at the moment

That is unfortunate. Your machine unfortunately has no other way of retrieving Diagnostic Codes which is a shame. I think you have no other option than to get ET back to the machine and download a PSR.

I have motor grader 140h When I put gear lever on neutral position engages itself reverse gear and When I put reverse gear they are moving but they don't have power what might be a problem

Machine Serial Number.? Have you tested anything electrical so far.? For this diagnostic you need to remove the short drive shaft between the transmission and the differential so that the machine does not move. Use a multimeter and test which of the 8 transmission control solenoids are energized when you engage each gear on the shifter in the cab. Also test in neutral. If I recall correctly there should also be solenoids energized in neutral. Put the results into some sort of a table and report back.

My 143H 1AL01163 kept loosing reverse (or forward, can't remember) intermittently. It came with all new solenoids on transmission. The hand shifter fits down into a plastic piece that comes out of the electronic shifter control. The shifter handle moves side to side, pulling it out and pushing it in. The plastic had a break on one end that would let it spread out and not shift it, ocasionally. Everything looked like it was working, the plastic piece always pulled back together and didn't look broke. Glued plastic together and it worked. Got a new shifter control, couldn't get it to work. Put old one back in, worked good. Cat sent me another shifter control, same thing. Finally got through to the right guy and had to splice a hot wire, new controller was looking for a second power somehow. Only other problem was transmission falling into neutral articulating. Transmission wiring harness was the problem.

Yes there is a modification procedure that has to be done to add a power wire if an old-style control is replaced by one of the newer part numbers.

Attached are the listings of the affected machine Serial Numbers and the procedure for installing the additional power circuit.
