Thought id do this one as this one hasn't been mentioned yet,Im only a farmer who starts, runs it then stops ,for on hour or so a day but its poorly. About a month ago I had to change the hydraulic pump because of the genetic problem with the coupler, on starting the machine up after about a month waiting for the bits(that's a story in itself!!) I noticed it was idling a little rough this has continued until last night when it lost all power and stopped.jumped out and gave the lift pump a couple of pulls and it went.Today it ran and stalled a couple if times each time starting after giving the lift pump a pull.At the end of my morning chores it stopped and that's where its left.Went to try and find a new fuel filter ordered( no spare in stock) so will have to wait till after the weekend. Do these symtoms point to the lift pump as mentioned in a few other posts about other machines or what could I do which would identify the problem. Thankyou
It does on the face of it sound like a weak lift pump. I might start by unhooking the fuel line coming out of the lift pump then have someone crank it over to see how good a shot of fuel comes out each cycle. I'm assuming this has the pump on the side of the engine that works off the lobe on the cam. If it seems weak might pay to check the line back to the fuel tank and be sure it is not failing inside or that there is nothing in tank plugging the suction port.
Yes pump on the side of the engine
Sorted for today at least. Took filter off today and it was full of this gunky looking stuff, gave the lift pump a few goes plenty of diesel coming through, bled through and started.Flat tyre fixed at the same time off we go until, the next time.
