1940’s D7 front pully?

NMBlackBetty · 2025-06-29 20:50

Have a 1940's Cat d7, serial plate is gone so not 100% sure on the year exactly. The upper front pully seems to have grown legs and walked away ( a lot of thieves in the area ) trying to find a place to source one, or maybe a hydraulic conversion kit. Has already had the pony delete done.

One of the Allis Charmers nose cones fits them , one done locally . I was told it was an HD16 but suspect one of them would be too big . Your machine number will be in the casting on a flat area of the block below where the magneto used to be . Inclosed photo is of my old D47U serial number yours will be in the same place . D339 motors have them and that looks to be one with the slopped heads shown in picture 3 of yours rather than the vertical lines from the block on the earlier motor .

Do you happen to know of a place online to order one from?

Do you think one of the Machinery salvage yards would have one? Machinery Trader has a really good dismantled machine section.

I have been unable to find one yet.

Used to be a cat skinner in Capitan named Morris, died a few years back He had a bunch of parts and parts machines around, his daughter may still have some of it

Wonder if a guy could just use a 12v winch in place of the pully system. Like a 12 ton or bigger winch.

It looks to me like someone was working at making that a hyd lift

Could have been, but can't find a kit online to finish it out if that was the intent.

Probably no kit it was probably in some old boy’s head that didn’t like messing with cable and thought down pressure would be a good thing

The thing runs like a dream, just need to find a way to control the blade. Either hydraulic conversion kit, or the missing pullies for the front upper, or to get some input on if a electric winch would do the job.

I would do a little research on a front tank hydraulic system

Best way to get the dozer operational is to have one made following a few phone calls to wrecking yards . The only 'kits" will be on the noses of other dozers .
