could someone help me identify this? i thought it was the transmission drain plug but found out different. it's in the bottom center of the transmission case and has an access hole in the belly pan. thinking it was the drain plug, i turned it a couple of turns and i want to make sure i didn't hurt anything. it doesn't show up in my shop manual that i can find.
Welcome to HEF mac peppers ! Serial number? Is there a letter behind the 550? Looks like there were issues there before since it has been welded.
thanks MG, the serial is 252281T and it's a 550-C. the weld is just where they put the belly pan together. there's about 1/8" between the bottom of transmission and the belly pan. it has a similar access hole under the engine for draining the oil.
Then I think it is the forward pin for the drawbar.
thanks again, you're right. i would have never figured it out. i had in my mind that it was a plug and never even thought about anything else. thru the access hole i was seeing the bottom of the draw bar thinking it was the transmission case. after turning it, i would have worried every time i ran it.
