I just bought a 550 1982 John Deere It sat for 5 years in the rain! Put a new battery in and it started right up... Loaded it up brought it home.. Everything works great all hyds. brakes, transmission shifts fine better than my old 450 D. Had to change fuel filter, engine oil, and filter. then I checked the trans. oil looks like cream, must be water. drained oil, lots of water. put in new filter added 10 gallons of trans. hyd. oil warmed it up and drained both plugs. still white cream ! How do I get the white out? Help, maybe fill with solvent? and drain.. Thanks Doug [email protected]

Fill, run a minute, drain; fill, run a minute, drain; fill, run, drain; repeat until you are happy with the color or burn the tractor.

Water absorbing filters, hygroscopic?, vacuum dehydration, boil out the water. Basically run the same oil, remove some to treat it and put it back, repeat until no more water.
