bought a 310a in December that had an out of frame engine rebuild in July with new crank installed. when i went and looked it over and operated it no oil leaks, it was 5 degrees the morning they loaded it to deliver to me and when they cranked it front oil seal started leaking and they said it stopped leaking when warmed up although when it arrived 300 miles later it was leaking. It loses about a quart in 30 minutes. All that said i am replacing seal and have radiator out, fan off,and removed hydraulic pump connection. Question is will i need to remove hydraulic pump to have enough room to replace seal
Pump removal makes it easier to get the seal driver in there. Although, you could probably get the seal in with a little creative thinking. If it was just rebuilt, it makes me wonder if the oil slinger was left off the crank when assembled.
Not sure ran fine no leaks until they cranked in 5 degree weather, wondering if rubber seal was froze and cracked, had been raining before freeze and may have had ice on seal. If slinger is missing can you remove timing cover to add
Yes
