Hauling potatoes for a friend of mine on his farm. He has me in a 87 t800 with a big cam Cummins 855. Rocker boxes, jake heads(could be c-brake) and valve covers leaking like crazy. Looking for torque specs and overhead adjustment procedure. If anyone could help i sure would appreciate it. I don't have access to a service manual up here and prodemand truck won't go back that far nor does it have a option anymore for the big cam. I don't believe it uses the top stop injectors. It doesn't have the oil manifold. Thank you for your time

The most common of BCII 400's, but someone stuffed that engine between those rails. BCII's were built from very late 1979 to mid 1981. * All parts are available aftermarket--AgKits online can supply all gaskets and most all hard parts. ATL is another source online. * Rocker box torque 70 lb ft Jake head torque 65 lb ft Intake lash .011, exhaust lash .023, jake adjustment lash .018-Jacobs Model 30. Injector adjustment 6 inch lbs, all locking nuts 20 ft lbs, or snug, don't over tighten. Jakes can be adjusted on any exhaust crosshead that wiggles, usually can set a total of four and bar around 3/4 of a rotation to set the last two. Use a paint stick to mark each rocker adjustment when done, same for jakes. Injector part # 3054232, if needed. Check pushrods for possible oil inside of pustube by holding vertical 5" off/above metal bench and let slide straight down through fingers, should sound hollow, if it thuds on table top it's oil filled, buy new ones. Sequence for overhead adjustment, marks on accessory drive pulley A, B, C, line up with pointer on accessory drive cover, bar in engine rotation. * A--injector on 3, set valves on 5 B--injector on 6, set valves on 3 C--injector on 2, set valves on 6 A--injector on 4, set valves on 2 B--injector on 1, set valves on 4 C--injector on 5, set valves on 1 * But if it's leaking oil that bad on the top end on a engine that old--the sealing o-rings for rocker shafts at the end of each rocker housing are probably leaking. Early used a threaded allen head cover, late used a press in soft plug. The 449 was a very good engine in the group of BC's built. Was a favorite with loggers years ago because of the slightly larger injector cups and injector pump setting that gave good throttle response.
Dam your sexy! If you were a woman....ide go for you.
It took years, now I'm just wrinkly and just set around passing gas all day! Your a few days late.
You know someone will come along and sprinkle some woofle dust on it though.
Vetech63---you bring up a good point---How about the rest of the crowd on here start answering posts with a complete description of what is necessary to complete the job that was asked, instead of vague short answers. OP wanted a manual--so I wrote him one---from memory.
That's absolutely awesome. Thank you for going way above and beyond what was asked. Your correct it is a different motor. It was a log truck my cousin bought dirt cheap because the guy thought it needed a moter. My cousin found both mufflers where plugged solid. 2 new mufflers and here we are today. I've done in frame rebuilds as well as complete block replacements. These motors as.well as the n14s i believe are like the Chevy 350s. Well known fairly easy to work on amd you only need select amount of tools to do it. Thank you again for your time and your knowledge. Kids these days as well as adults need to shut there mouths and listen when people with knowledge speak because eventually that knowledge won't be around anymore.. thank you
Mr. Truck shop do you by chance know the part number of the jake brake gasket? Model 30 jake head. They sent me the wrong gaskets
3045533 sound familiar?
3801640 covers I, II & III BC's. aftermarket.
Awesome rundown. With leaks that heavy, rocker shaft O-rings make perfect sense. Everything else you listed should keep the old BCII happy for years if the bottom end’s still healthy.
