1996 case 9030b operating tips needed

I am not at all experienced in operating one, and would like to pick the brains of those that have logged some hours in it, or any excavator. I need to clear some large hardwood stumps, any operating tips? maintenance tips?

Have about 5000 hrs in one. Pulling stumps you're going to want narrow bucket or ripper. 24" works well. 9030B is an awesome machine in my opinion. Plenty of power, fast as hell. You are going to need a little practice to run it respectably.

i have a couple of easier projects before i really start working it...i have about 1/2 acre of large stumps that are in the middle of my pasture that i plan on pulling together and stacking for a good final burn...a thumb would really work well i would imagine...then i have the new pasture i bulldozed last year with some stubborn stumps that i have to get up...that might have a bit of a learning curve to it, especially since i have about 1 hours in one....then the reason i got it is to dig a few smaller ponds to collect all the run off that goes to the river....i will really have to get some information on how to do that for sure. thanks for the advice

As with any machine, start slow and develop reflexes well enough that you don't consciously have to think of which lever does what. Speed comes with practice. Read the operator's manual, it should tell you what and how much grease and oil goes where.
