Ive got a 98 gehl 5635sx with an end cap leak on my right side final drive, ive been doing some research and see this is a typical problem, everyone stating there is an o ring back there that will solve the leak, my question is for the procedure to get to said o ring, take off the end cap, left seeing a giant snap ring and apparently a beveled washer that needs to be decompressed to get the snap ring off, do i have to drain the entire final to get into this back portion? ive read i can do this under and inside the machine still, looking hopefully for someone whos done this before as i cant find really anything on this.
Usually but not always the end of the ring is near the drain plug and finding the ends is essential and a PITA and yes to draining the oil.
