have a 1999 Hitachi excavator ex 230 model all works fine except it won't cut either right or left , both tracks go forward and back as normal , but not cut , !! help ,mike
Welcome to HEF vogt . Sounds like the rotary manifold needs a reseal. What happens if you lift one track into the air and try and turn the track that’s on the ground ?
It wants to turn but it does not just the one off the ground will move , one side now moves faster than the other when i pick up each side you can see the didference
thank you for your reply , dave it just started doing this , oil is in the operating range , its clean filter has been changed in the tank , dont know if im missing one ? The machine upper All works fine and it was tracking straight and cutting fine , was walking in a limestone parking lot nice and level ,easy cutting ,im not hard on the machine ,blew a small hose that runs from under center to track motor did lose but about a gallon of oil , got a new hose installed it , put additional oil in it and it started getting sluggish cutting ?
If the track in the air turns when trying to move only the track on the ground it points to the rotary manifold leaking internally (cross feeding).
Will ck tomorrow am thank you very much !!
Did what you suggested raised one side functioned the ground side it moves ground side and the track in the air does not move , same both sides , I did not change pilot filter do you think that would help ?
If I understand you correctly, when tracking straight using both pilot control pedals ,you can ease off significantly on an individual track control pedal and the machine continues to track straight and not turn ? With both tracks on the ground ,If you operate one track only does the opposite track stay stationary ?
Yes sir that is correct ,
Reckon the rotary joint needs a reseal. The small hose you replaced is the 2 speed which is usually pilot pressure and has dumped main pump pressure into it causing it to fail. The only common place for this to happen is the rotary joint. It's not a big job to reseal these and can be done on site. Plug and cap all hydraulic fittings to minimise oil lose
Well looks like a seal job it is thank you !!
