Greetings all: I have been reading the various threads and on a number of occasions certain old graders have been referred to as "knuckle busters". Which ones and why? Second, what is the difference between an Austin Western 100 Super and an Austin Western 300 Super? I have greatly enjoyed reading your threads and learned alot. Thanks, Rick

A knuckle buster is mechanicaly operated with cogs and shafts. Mainly old Cats and Wabco Adams. and the difference between a AW100 and AW300 is 200 supers.

A 100 series Austin-Western has one rear axle that steers just like a front axle; A 200 has tandem rear axles that steer sorta like a fifth wheel arrangement

That is the differance between a pacer and a super the super has 2 rear axles. The differance between the 100 and 300 is board length and weight. some had higher HP also. AW's range from the 99 through 500 series.
