Recently purchased a 2001 Cat 420D. Wondering if anyone has some pictures or a video of how to change the control modes from Cat to Deere. Thanks
Need a Serial Number to look up the information. There are a few possibilities, it just depends which one of them your machine is equipped with.
First of all welcome to the Forums DB! Glad to have you. You're in good hands with Nige so post up a serial # and he can help you with all sorts of stuff. With a machine that age you're going to need help. I had an early 2000's 420DIT. Look on the drivers side of the machine behind the rear tire. There should be a hole in the thick steel frame with a silver wrench for lack of a better term bolted to the frame with 2 threaded holes. This is the pattern changer. Forget which position is which but you'll figure it out. The little silver "wrench" may be gone but it just turns a nut recessed behind the frame panel.
Thank you very much will get the serial number tomorrow.
location of hand pattern control changers on all machines. please list here hey there. i thought it might be a good idea to list the location of hand pattern control changers in a central location. i have been helping a large construction company part time because my business is slow and they have a gazillion pieces of equipment. getting off one machine and on another... HeavyEquipmentForums Very first post has the info.
Some 420Ds have an electrically-controlled pattern changer from a switch on the dash. I just wondered if the OP’s machine might be one of them. Either way it’s all in the O&M Manual and I assume the OP is asking because he doesn’t have one. If you’re going to maintain it yourself that manual is essential. When you post a Serial Number I’ll track down the correct one.
